About Us
Inky’s is a small, friendly & independent business owned by Dave and Jimm, and assisted by our colleagues Jack, Shaun, Ella and Justin. We’re based in an office in Birmingham city centre, serving customers from all over the UK. We are passionate about looking after our customers & producing perfect custom printed t-shirts, polo shirts and hoodies.
Our aim is to provide an easy to use garment printing service at the lowest price possible, while fulfilling all orders within whatever short timescale our customers demand. We go the extra mile by answering customer emails well into the night on most evenings and at weekends, when most other t-shirt printing businesses are closed.
How We Keep Prices Low
We run the business with very minimal overheads, passing on the savings to you. For example, a large proportion of our work comes from repeat orders from satisfied customers, so we spend very little on advertising. We also recently closed our high-maintenance Birmingham city centre shop so we could move into much cheaper office premises, enabling us to offer some of the most competitive prices on t-shirt printing in the UK today without having to cover the expenses of running a shop. Our office is open to the public, so you’re welcome to visit us anytime.
Ethics
It’s a big world and the t-shirt printing industry does have an impact on it, environmentally and socially. We’re committed to doing whatever we can to be a force of good instead of evil, doing everything from reducing waste to choosing the right suppliers.
Suppliers
We only supply garments that have been produced within strict standards. The main brand we use is Gildan, not a brand on the tip of everyone’s tongue – but they are big…. In 2007 they sold over 500 million t-shirts, sports shirts and fleeces worldwide and no less than 320 million pairs of socks. Gildan obtained accreditation from the Fair Labor Association (“One Sweatshop Is Too Many”) for its labour compliance program, thus becoming the first vertically-integrated manufacturer in its industry to achieve accreditation.” And according to elsewhere in the report, the first “basic activewear apparel manufacturer” (there’s a mouthful!) to achieve this status.
Waste
We don’t use excessive packaging for our deliveries. Just a single biodegradable plastic mail bag for smaller orders, and recycled re-used carboard boxes. We turn waste paper into notepaper, (we use hardly any paperwork in the office anyway). But we do still manage to fill half a skip on some weeks, mainly with used tea bags.
